City of art and history, Blois is guaranted to surprise you
A panorama of French architecture, the royal château is the door Way to the Loire Valley
A UNESCO world heritage site, the royal river invites you to Blois
Welcome to a universe of the illusion and magical arts. A unique site in Europe!
The Loire Valley, a world heritage site since November 2000, is the largest of these sites in France, with an area of over 800 km². From Sully-sur-Loire in the Loiret to Chalonnes-sur-Loire in Anjou, the Loire Valley follows the royal river for 280 km. In addition to the Loire and the natural landscape of the river banks, the area selected by UNESCO includes the historic heart of several large towns and cities, including the royal city of Blois.
Built on both sides of the river, Blois has developed its river banks wisely, so that both its inhabitants and tourists can enjoy the river in every season. On the left bank, the port de la Creusille, redeveloped as a park and leisure area, hosts a guinguette (open-air café) and various entertainments and street theatre in the summer. It is also the starting point for walking and cycling tours along the river, as well as the Loire Observatory meeting place for setting off to explore the Loire in a traditional boat. On the right bank, the Loire banks have also been redeveloped to provide fine walks for pedestrians. To see the Loire in "another light", don't miss the fireworks on 14th July: set off from the port de la Creusille, as night falls they are reflected in the Loire, providing a magnificent spectacle for all!
