European Heritage Days

Established in 1991 by the Council of Europe, European Heritage Days give people the opportunity to glimpse the unity and diversity of Europe's cultural heritage.

Now organised in around forty European countries and regions, local events, taking place between the end of August and the beginning of November, allow the public to visit numerous buildings and other places, often not generally open to the public, or museums with free or cheaper access.

In France, these Heritage Days are on the third weekend of September, and the City of Blois mobilises to open all its museums to the public, as well as a large number of public, private and religious monuments. Themed tours and circuits are also on offer during this exceptional weeken
